Why Safety Equipments are necessary during Sandblasting?

Abrasive blasting operations can create high levels of dust and noise. Abrasive material and the surface being blasted may contain toxic materials (e.g., lead paint, silica) that are hazardous to workers. Silica sand (crystalline) can cause silicosis, lung cancer, and breathing problems in exposed workers. As we know that it leads to noise and air pollution.

So we provide Safety Equipment to fight against these nanoparticles of abrasive agents. In the helmet, we have given breathing air safety Respirators. So the labour doesn't have breathing problems while working.

Let classify each of them:

Helmet: The hood or helmet includes a head suspension system and light to allow the device to move with the operator's head, a view window with a replaceable lens or lens protection and an air-feed hose connected with an oxygen cylinder nozzle. Earplugs are inside Sandblasting Helmet to resist the sound created by the blasting machine.

Wear Suit: Body protection is necessary because sand particles get stucks on the body that causes infection. Professionals would wear a Cordura/canvas blast suit (unless blasting with steel abrasives, then they would use a leather suit and chaps).

Gloves: Hand gloves used for protecting hands from abrasive agents media. It is easier to hold a sandblasting nozzle with gloves.

Cabinet: Cabinet is required for a closed-loop system that allows the operator to recycle the abrasive. It usually consists of four components; the containment (cabinet), the abrasive blasting system, the abrasive recycling system, and the dust collection.

Blasting Room: A blast room is a much larger version of a blast cabinet. Blast operators work inside the room to roughen, smooth, or clean surfaces of an item depending on the needs of the finished product. Blast rooms and blast facilities come in many sizes, some of which are big enough to accommodate very large or uniquely shaped objects like rail cars, commercial and military vehicles, construction equipment, and aircraft.

Respirator: Respirator is one of the most important parts of the safety equipment. It provides sufficient oxygen inside the helmet to breathe. It also supplies cool air inside the helmet so labour doesn't suffer from Hyperhidrosis.
