What is Sandblasting?

         Sandblasting machine is basically used to clean the surface of any material, mainly for the metallic surface. this is one of the most accomplished and quick method which uses compressed air to blast fine sand through a nozzle to shape and smooth surface of any foreign material. It is well suited for the removal of rust which is causing property damage.
It is not used only to remove rust but to prepare surface for high-performance coatings or to treat final products to give them luster and surface texture desired by the retail consumer. Materials used in sandblasting are sand, copper slog, steel grit, pieces of walnut, powder abrasive, pieces of avocado and many others.


These different types of materials have different shape, hardness, and density. Each type of material has some unique applications within the industry. The use of silica sand as an abrasive material in sand blasting is banned in numerous countries because silica sand easily breaks up the cause’s large amount of dust. Extended inhalations of dust by workers who are involved in the process of sandblasting suffer from serious disease named silicosis of lungs.

Secondly sand contains high moisture content that can lead to the premature demise of blasting equipment. Instead of sand, we use steel grit for removing rust sand layers of paint from thick metal surface and crushed glass for light surface it could be damaged, if we use other heavier materials. In the industries, many equipment used in sandblasting are batch type system, through feed system, hanger type system and manipulator type system.

There are various methods of abrasive cleaning but Sand blasting is the strongest method among them for cleaning metal surfaces. There are some other uses of this process like it is also used to create a signage on wood and glass to give them an authentic look. Many Hotels & Resorts use this type of signage to make their products look traditional & homely. This high-pressure machine is also used to engrave sign on the cemetery monuments. But the most important use of this machine is to clean the ships also the metals that are used in brick, stone, construction & concrete work industry.
